Below was our route for today.

Note: Thank you for informing me that the videos for Wind River and Old Faithful are not working. With the slow speeds up here, I may have disconnected before it had a chance to completely upload. I will post them tomorrow night from Salt Lake City along from the ones for today. Read more
What a day today in Wyoming! We did get started around 7:15 and had a full day. My knees still feel like jelly from our 7 mile hike today. We started out at the Mud Volcano (video-stinky mud). If there was a way to share with you the scents of YellowStone, you would smell the great pine trees as we hike, and then the foul sulfur as we pass through the Mud Volcanos. Man, it was bad. However, you will see a photo below where as we were coming around the trail, there were 3 buffalo laying there about 2 ft off the trail. Probably not one of my smartest decisions to walk by, but I did it anyway. The buffalo just laid there and ate.
We then visited the Fishing Bridge on the way to Uncle Tom’s trail. The trail was quite a challenge. There was a half mile hike until you get to 328 steep steel stairs to get to the bottom of the waterfall. Even with all the pain, the hike was worth it. We then went over to Madison and the kids singed up for a jr. Ranger. They also sat through a interesting discussion with Ranger Jay.
We then went back to Fairy Falls. Man was that a hike. We completely underestimated the time it would take for the 5 mile hike and missed our dinner reservations. We had to end up eating cheeseburgers instead of Prime Rib. Oh, well.
The kids have done awesome on the hikes. Including Tess. I bet she walked probably over a mile of our 7 mile hike today. They are really having a great time, and learning a lot in this very educational place. The real key to exploring the park is getting on a trail and going for a hike. That is where the real wonder of this place comes to life. Check out the individual videos of the Black Cauldron, Dragon’s Mouth, and Uncle Tom’s Falls.
Tomorrow we head for Salt Lake City…

20 Jun 2010Great pictures!!!!!!! I know for sure that I do not want to hike next to a buffalo!!!! They look way to big to me. I also think that cross country trips are hard work. Trevor, way to go!!! That platform looked really high and you went anyway. Taylor, I love your poses. You look beautiful. It is great to be a part of your adventure! Love, Mom!

19 Jun 2010Hi! mISSED A COUPLE OF DAYS BUT GOT CAUGHT UP. It looks beautiful but wouldnt like that much snow at this time of the year. Sounds like the kids are loving it. It is Saturday and it is pouring down rain here. Icant imagine being that close to a huge buffalo and them not moving. Keep the pictures and commentary coming. Love, mom

19 Jun 2010see what I mean about Old Faithful being anti-climatic? You have to see it, but I was expecting more. The river that flows near there is called the “Firehole” – fun to fish next to boiling hot water!

20 Jun 2010Yeh, and when it is snowing it is practically impossible to see.
