Friday (3/18)
Earlier in the day, mom and I went to Costco to get some groceries for the drive to Florida. When Heather walked in the store, she was paying attention to a display and literally ran into the big column. A store worker came up, and she was immediately embarrassed. I was almost in tears due to laughter. Read more
We picked the kids up and headed south at 3:30p. We hit a 40 minute delay north of Atlanta but arrived into the Marriott in Macon, GA at 12:30a. Watched SportsCenter at 1a and saw the Michigan State, UC, and WV upsets in the 2016 NCAA Tourney.
Saturday (3/19)
We all got up around 8:30a and headed down to the hotel breakfast. We packed up the car and headed for Kissimmee, FL around 9:45a. We hit a 45 minute delay north of Gainesville, FL, but still got to the Westgate Town Center Resort around 3:45p
Our accommodations weren’t ready so we watched a little of the Duke game. Got to our beautiful room around 4:30p. It was on the top floor and overlooking a large lake, putt putt, and near the waterpark. Mom and I took Tess to get groceries while Trev, Cole (Trev’s friend who joined us) and Tay explored the resort. They found a full size soccer field and played a bit of soccer. We ordered Giordano’s Pizza for dinner. It was ok. Pretty tired so we all turned in for the night.
Sunday (3/20)
Got up and had a quick breakfast. We went down and rode the swan paddleboats for a bit and then played putt putt. Had lunch and then went to play tennis and basketball. Of course on the first possession of the game, I jammed my thumb back the wrong way. Same time last year that I broke it.
We then went to the pool for the rest of the day. Came back to the room and watched March Madness and saw Xavier ko’d on a last second 3 by Wisconsin. The gang then played Spoons on the balcony. I couldn’t because of my thumb. Had a few snacks and went to bed.
Monday (3/21)
Heather prepared an awesome breakfast for us this morning. We then went over to the Animal Kingdom Lodge and the Polynesian. Took the monorail to the Grand Floridian and then to the Contemporary. Afterwards we headed to Disney Springs (former Downtown Disney). Tay and I got a Starbucks and we then all had lunch at Wolfgang Puck and Earl of Sandwich. The boys split off so the rest of us went and had a volcano dessert at the RainForest Cafe. Bought some souvenirs and some shirts and then headed home. Played some UNO with Tess and turned in. Really excited about SeaWorld tomorrow as Heather and I have not been there since we had kids, and the kids have never been either.
