The 4 of us floated the BigHorn again today while Todd/Dave checked out the Red Lodge and Rock Creek area. Tim joined Ryan and I today and Dave went with Dave and Tyrell. We fished the same trek as yesterday – beginning at 3 mile and floating 10 miles down. Read more
The winds were really nasty again today. Even with the stiff winds I was able to catch 8 fish.. most of them with a steel worm and nymph. I actually “caught” the largest rainbow I have ever had on my line. Ryan said it was at least 22″ inches as it jumped out of the water. For some reason I lowered my rod and it was able to escape and laugh at me as it swam away. I am still not over it!
Dean caught 8 fish, Tim caught 4 fish, and Chris caught a few. Another great LOOONG day on the BigHorn. We got there at 10a, but didn’t get on the river until noon because our guides needed to buy flies (maybe do that beforehand next time?). We left the river around 7:30p. We then headed back to Billings and picked up Pizza Ranch on the way home.
