We met up with our guides at Garrison Stoker Resort and my guide from last year Tyrell, came up and gave me a big bear hug. He also told me that since last year he wears his crocs in “sport mode” when needed. It was cool that he remembered me.
Floated the Bighorn River all day. On the way, we stopped again in Ft. Smith and I got another hat to keep my momentum going on the BigHorn. Last year we started at the dam and went to the 3 mile mark. This year we started at the 3 mile mark and floated 10 miles down the river. Today I rode with Dave and Ryan was our guide. Todd/Tim with Andy, and Dean/Chris with my buddy, Tyrell. Read more
I had another good day on the river catching 5 fish, and one of my largest fish to date – a 21″ rainbow trout. Ryan, a former Afghan sniper, kept us entertained on the river with jokes and fun stories about his 6 yr old girl and 4 year old boy. His wife actually manages a large RV dealership in Billings. A few hours after I caught my fish, Tim caught a bigger rainbow trout. It was a beautiful fish. Todd said “that is the biggest fish I have ever seen come out of this river”. That was awesome for Tim. He ended up catching 7 on the day.
We headed back and stopped for a great dinner at Montana’s Rib & Chop House.
