No major driving today.
We decided after lunch to go back out on the boat and do some snorkeling in the Gulf of Mexico. The weather was actually great – not too hot. It was pretty wild because we were about 10 miles offshore, and the depth of the water was about 6′. One would think it would be like 40′. Read more
We found several sand dollars (well Jim did), and a cool few shells. I personally was hoping for a sea horse. When we were here last, we were on a sandbar close to shore and a sea horse literally swam into my hand. It was so cool. The only problem was the disposable camera that Deborah took the picture with flew off the boat later that day. I am still bummed about that.
We came back and just snacked around for dinner. We then decided to take the local trolley to get ice cream. We went to a new place which was close to the SandBar Restaurant, called Dips. We won’t make that mistake again. The service was pathetic and the ice cream tasted freezer burnt. Call us spoiled. We know good ice cream, and this wasn’t it.

14 Jul 2010Finally reading through your entries from the rest of your trip (sorry..been a bit busy). Can’t believe four corners was closed (that reminds me of our 4th of july camping trip…pure Griswold misery). I also warned you about the St. Louis arch…will never do that again! 😉 The white water rafting reminded me when I went rafting in Colorado in high school…fell out…and nearly died. AGain…something I won’t do again. Glad you all had the trip of a lifetime!

5 Jul 2010Glad to get connected again to your trip. The island sounds great…beach even better. Some of those pictures on the beach will surely show up on a Christmas picutre soon…just too good. We are up in an area called Lake Pend Orielle (pronounced Ponderay) which is the second deepest lake in the states they say. My brother bought a place up here after our folks sold the family place in Lake Tahoe (the deepest lake in the states) a few years back. It is good to get on to a lake again. Headed back to Jackson today and then back to Cincinnati tomorrow. God bless and safe and adventurous travels all. Randy
