Below was our route for today.
We arrived into San Diego’s awesome Balboa Park around 10:30a this morning. We parked and headed over to the Spanish village to look at the local art and glass. Heather and I visited here in our last trip a few years back and wanted particularly Tay and Tess to see it. Read more
Tay bought a chalk pastel panorama painting of San Diego. We then walked over to the Japanese garden and Speckles Pavilion. Tay had a new Japanese soda she saw on youtube called Ramune. To me it was a flavored Perrier with a weird top. Trevor had a tea and the rest of us had waters.
All the walking made us really hungry so we went to one of my favorite pizza places in San Diego – Mona Lisa’s Italian on India street. We all had a great pizza while sitting outside and enjoying the pleasant 74 degree weather. I wasn’t aware but a few years back they moved to an ala carte self service thing during lunch
To walk off our full stomach’s, we headed to Seaport Village down on the water to shop a bit. We bought some hot sauce for our friends, the MacFarland’s at Hot Licks because they appear to love that stuff. Me, not so much. Todd explained to me the Carolina Reaper was the hottest thing out there, but the guys at Hot Licks didin’t agree… The kids watched a show with a guy who swallowed fire and swords while Heather and I explored the village. The view of the harbor and nearby Coronado Island were great. Heather and I were enjoying sitting in the hammock chairs so much, we decided to buy one for ourselves.
To beat Friday’s Los Angeles traffic and to be at Disneyland first thing in the AM, we left Seaport Village and headed towards Anaheim. We are staying right across from Disneyland so we will be walking to the park tomorrow. No time driving at all…
Excited for Disneyland tomorrow…
