We arrived at La Casa Grande de Elgins early in the evening after about a 5 hour drive down from Cincy. We have known Bob and Regina for many years through our church, but Bob, Regina and I really got close when we went to Nicaragua on a Mission Trip together about 8 years ago. Read more

We arrived at RBYC in the early evening. Bob and I spent the evening sampling different whiskeys and enjoying a great stogie out on their patio overlooking the lake. Although it was a great cigar, it could not keep us warm enough to stay out their long. There is a stiff breeze off the lake during this time of year. Regina, Heather and the kids played cards most of the evening.
Wednesday Heather and I left in the convertible Saab for a nice tour of the Tail of the Dragon. This is a popular and internationally famous 11-mile stretch said to have 318 curves. Having driven it both ways, I don’t think that estimate is off at all. Some of the Dragon’s sharpest curves have names like Copperhead Corner, Hog Pen Bend, Wheelie Hell, Shade Tree Corner, Mud Corner, Sunset Corner, Gravity Cavity, Beginner’s End, and Brake or Bust Bend.
