Below was our route for today.
Hey all, Heather here. Trent is taking a break tonight. Read more
This morning we woke up to a beautiful, dry day today in South Dakota – yeah! We started the day at the Mt. Rushmore National Memorial. It is definitely an impressive piece of art. We all enjoyed walking the Presidential Trail and checking out the scenery. The kids collected their souvenirs and we headed over to the Crazy Horse Memorial. It is a quick 20 minute ride through the Black Hills National Forest.
The Crazy Horse Memorial is also awesome. The whole plan for the area is incredible. We can’t wait to come back someday and see it completed. Back on the road again, we headed toward Deadwood, SD. The drive up through the forest was scenic. We especially enjoyed stopping to see Pactola Lake along the way (picture below). We didn’t find much in Deadwood so we headed on to Devil’s Tower.
Since we have a long drive tomorrow (heading to Jackson, WY) we went ahead and got a couple of hours under our belt and landed in Gillette, WY. More tomorrow…
