Today we had our cruise of the Biscayne Bay and Star, Palm, and Hibiscus Islands. Our cruise departed from Bayside Marketplace. This is a cool little area with shops, restaurants, and a large marina, and is right next to where the Miami Heat play basketball. Read more
The islands are where the super rich live. Star Island is the most exclusive residential island community in Florida and has been home to Sammy Davis, jr. Shaquille O’Neal, Gloria Estefan, Al Capone, Rosie O’Donnell, Jlo, etc.
It was a really nice cruise until the tail end where a downpour started. I mean the rain was coming down. It was funny to see all the boats line up and head back to the harbor. Of course all of them were faster than ours so we got some good size waves sent to us. Instead of waiting inside the boat when it docked, we all made a run for it to the Bayside Marketplace. By the time we got under the building, we were drenched from head to toe.
As we started to find somewhere to eat, Taylor got an awful migraine so we decided to modify our plans as we had planned to stay at Bayside most of the day. When we got back to the condo, we got Tay some medicine and let her take a nap as the rest of us walked over to check out the famous Fontainebleau Miami Resort. It is a massive complex with over 1,500 guest rooms and 10 pools, and one of the top clubs around onside – LIV. After exploring the resort a bit, we took the boardwalk back home. On our way back we passed the Westgate South Beach Resort so decided to stop in and see what they looked like. The manager said it is the smallest Westgate Resort, but is an ideal location. We picked up some Subway sandwiches on the way back to the condo.
