Heather and I went to Logan, Ohio to spend the weekend with her best friends from college. Jake & Lori volunteered to host this time, and Heather and I will be hosting the next time around. We had an awesome few days of hiking, eating great food, playing games, and just catching up. Read more
Since Heather and I just got back from Miami Beach about 24 hours earlier, we didn’t get to Jake/Lori’s house until around 8:30p. They had ordered some pizza so we had some food and caught up a bit. Then Heather and I and John & Vicky took the short commute as we were staying at Alex’s house since she and her fiancé were in Florida for the week. Saturday we got up and Jake/Lori prepared a full breakfast for us and then he headed over to Hocking Hills Ash Cave to so some hiking. The forecast didn’t call for rain until mid-afternoon, so we thought we would stay dry. However when we arrive at Ash Cave there is a gathering of folks playing tom-tom drums and doing a tribal dance. Wouldn’t you know it, about 10 minutes later on our hike, an absolute downpour began. It must has been a raindance ritual we witnessed in the cave 🙂 After leaving Ash Cave we headed over to Rock Bridge Nature Preserve. It is a little longer hike and wouldn’t you know it again, when we were the furthest point from the car, the rain started pouring again. They must still be doing that dance at Ash Cave! After hiking most of the afternoon, we had a late lunch at the Hungry Buffalo Restaurant. The wings were really good, and they had Barq’s Cream Soda as well. After lunch, we headed back and showered up and then went back over to Jake/Lori’s for the evening. Jake made a shrimp boil with smoked sausage, potatoes, shrimp and corn on the cob. I really didn’t think I would like it, but it tasted great. We wrapped up the evening with games – What do You Meme and Cards Against Humanity. It was a great weekend!

31 Jul 2021It was a great time, but way too long since the last one. Maybe we can have less rain next time though :-).
