Below was our route for today.
We left YellowStone, Wyoming this morning. What memories we will have from that amazing place. On the way out, we took the West Entrance. At the 7 mile lake, we saw an Eagle in its nest, and tried to find the Trumpeter Swan, but were unsuccessful. Read more
We then went to Lava Hot Springs, ID. We met our friends, the Skardas there. They are our neighbors in Cincinnati, but Steve has a 1 year temporary assignment in UT to bring a new P&G plant online. They drove up to ID and we had a great day at the waterpark, and then visited the Hot Springs. The waterpark had the warmest water I have ever felt in a pool. The kids had a blast.
Funniest thing was the park had very high spring diving boards, and even higher platforms. As soon as we arrived, Trevor headed up to the highest platform dive, and then just jumped in. Shocked the heck out of all of us. Immediately following that he went to the highest springboard. I hollared up jokingly, ‘Trevor are you going to dive’?. He responded no, then proceeded to do A FLIP off the board. That kid is as unpredictable as they come. Come to find out you needed a special wristband to get up on the platform. (a waiver had to be signed), however he just slipped right through the line un-noticed.
We then went over to the Hot Springs, and boy was it hot!! There were about 4 pools and the water actually came up from the bottom of one of them and then fed into the others. It was a neat experience. The bottom of the pool was filled with mineral rocks. We then had a nice dinner at Fat Jack’s, and then drove the remaining way to UT.
For those of you who asked, we are at a total of 10 states already (OH, IN, IL, IA, NE, SD, WY, MT, ID,& UT).
More tomorrow…

21 Jun 2010loved the pics including the fly fisherman. Yes, the Buffalo pics were cool – but definitely stupid. There have been dozens of people killed in yellowstone by tourists going up to them thinking they are domestic animals like in a petting zoo (no joke). Glad you all weren’t gored to death!

20 Jun 2010Love the Yellowstone pics and thanks for the mention on the blog and the pic of the fly fisherman. The Madison!!! Yes!! Love that river. I would be a lot more jealous if I wasn’t leaving to fly fish in Sun Valley, Idaho this Thursday for a whole week, no wife and kids to distract us (going with male cousins and uncles, and my father-in-law). Actually, I didn’t think about it before – but we’ll be generally close to each other not too many days apart. Would have been funny to have hooked up in Idaho for a beer.
