No major driving today.
Well it has been a few days since I logged an entry. The reasoning will be later in this blog. First off let me tell you how my day began on Friday. I should have known it was not going to be my best day on the island. Read more
Heather and I got up early to walk the beach with Trevor and Tess. We were having a great time picking up sea shells and just enjoying the beauty. Then a bird comes by and craps on my forehead. Yes, literally on my forehead. It was actually the best place, because it was very easy to wash off.
After the walk on the beach, we headed back to the pool to chill a little bit. Had some breakfast and then grilled brats for lunch. In the afternoon, we get a call from Shawn, Jim’s brother, to go deep sea fishing about 10 miles offshore. I immediately said no to this, because those of you who know me well, know the Boston Deep Sea Fishing story, and it wasn’t pretty.
However soon all the kids want to go. Heather basically convinced me that I should go so Jim is not watching all the kids. I asked her to go the local pharmacy and find out what was the best thing I could take. It ended up being Bromamine, and the directions were to take 1 pill. Knowing how miserable I was going to be, I took two full pills.
We get out to the fishing spot and immediately Trevor catches a bite. The bite was so good, it chomped off the hook and 150 lb line along with the bait. One fishing ple down. Shortly thereafter, Taylor gets a bite. She too had the fish/shark/whatever on the line for a few seconds and it too took the bait, hook and 200 lb line with it. We then realize that the tackle box was left at Shawn’s so we turn back. No fish, saw 3 dolphins though. It certainly didn’t live up to the 4 foot fish stories, and all the shark we would catch stories, but oh well.
We get back to the house and about 30 min later I pass out. I literally wake up the next morning. This is why I am not in the dinner pictures below and why there was no entry last night.
This morning we get up and go to DeSoto National Park as a brief stop on the way to Orlando. The park was neat, but the cool tree was the highlight for me. We then head to Orlando and go to Downtown Disney. It was funny, both Heather and I felt like we were “cheating” not going to Walt Disney World being so close, so we decided that Downtown Disney was needed.
The kids enjoyed Downtown Disney and we, of course, ate at my favorite place in Orlando, Fulton’s Crab House.
Tomorrow we are hanging out at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios. Check back for an update then…
Thanks for all the notes from our site. Keep them coming, we love reading your comments on our journey.

17 Jul 2010:I am still jealous. You guys are in all my favorite places. Trent, I am not sure you should be driving. You are not with Tess in front of Fultons. Have a great time while there. I can’t wait to hear about Harry Potter.
