Over the past several years, our family has seen our great country up-close and all its beauty and mystery. Taylor just turned 14, and after this trip she will have experienced 46 of the 50 states. Trevor, who is 16 will have gone to 45, and Tess, who is 8 will have enjoyed 45 of the 50 states. Click here for a map.

Spend a night in Las Vegas (already visited there enough), drive through the Mojave Desert and Joshua Tree National Park on the way to Palm Springs. Ride the aerial tram to Mt. San Jacinto State Park. Head to San Diego’s Balboa Park and Seaport Village. Spend the weekend at Disneyland and then Catalina Island. Begin the week with a visit to the Rose Bowl, Hollywood, Venice Beach and Santa Monica. Head north stopping at Pepperdine University in Malibu, lunch in Santa Barbara. Continue to Morro Rock in San Luis Obispo and visit with the McCracken family. Next pass Hearst Castle, a day at Big Sur, and end in Carmel, CA Head to San Francisco and visit Alcatraz. Then it’s Napa Valley and a visit to the Redwoood National Parks. A stop over in Portland, OR and then a day at Mt. Rainier in WA on the way to Seattle where we go to the top of the Space Needle, explore Chihuly Glass Garden, and the Pike Place Market. End with a visit the next day to the University of Washington. Whew!
