Sunday 4/17
The girls woke up to my traditional Easter scavenger hunt. It was a total surprise for them, but I wasn’t about to let us being out of town at the beach prevent me from doing this. I know how much fun it is for the kids. Read more
We then watched Rivers Crossing church online and drove to the Cocoa Beach area for the day. We arrived around noon and went to Ron Jon Surf Shop for souvenirs, and then walked down to the beach. We have learned from our frequent visits that if we buy stuff at Ron Jon, we can park in their lot all day for free while we are at the beach.
After enjoying the sun on the beach, we decided to walk down to the pier for lunch. It is not a short walk, but there are a lot of food options there. Unfortunately we left our shoes behind and we were not permitted on the pier to have lunch.
Instead we grabbed some ice cream near the pier as a snack. I got a large ice cream cone and due to the heat, the whole thing melted quickly and fell off into my hands and all over my white shirt. It was a great laugh for everyone! I got cleaned up and then we headed back down the beach.
Before leaving and heading back to the resort, we drove about 30 minutes north to visit the Canaveral National Seashore.
Wednesday 4/20
We came back to the beach for the day. Man, it was really windy and the rain flags were up alerting us to the dangers in the water current.
When we arrived, Heather and I walked down to the Westgate Cocoa Beach Resort as it was about a mile from our beach home for the day.
We had lunch on the Westgate Pier at Pelican’s Bar & Grill. The hamburger was outstanding!
After another fun day at the beach, we headed back to the resort for some shuffleboard and swimming.
