Below was our route for today.
We left for Waterbury, VT to tour Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream factory. It was a couple hour drive through White Mountain National Forest. Read more
Along the route, we passed Santa’s Village in New Hampshire. Initially I had this as a stop, but later learned it was more of an amusement park. Since we have Kings Island in our backyard, we decided to pass. We did get a few photos as we drove by though.
We arrived at Ben & Jerry’s factory and took the tour. It was kinda cool to see the intricate operation they have, and the process the ice cream goes through. We ended the tour with a sample of their newest flavor – salt & caramel. We then grabbed a good helping of ice cream for our sugar fix for the day.
The night before Heather and I talked about the rest of the trip. We decided that we were going to bypass Montreal & Toronto and just go to Niagara Falls. Since this decision shortened our trip by a few days, we decided to make the long drive from VT to Niagara Falls, ON.
The drive was pretty uneventful until the last 45 minutes. A torrential downpour of rain and constant lightning made it very difficult to drive. It was probably the fastest I have ever gone through customs. We rolled down the window, through them our passports, got the stamp, and off we went. It was the worst rain Heather and I can remember driving through…. EVER.
We got into Niagara Falls late and had planned on walking down to see the Falls at night. The rain prevented that from happening…
