We arrived on Anna Maria Island on Saturday afternoon. We were a bit delayed because of having to stop and get freon added to the van since we were not going attempt to drive any distance with A/C because with the high humidity in FL, it would not have been pleasant. Read more
Saturday it rained a bit so we went to the grocery, and stayed in and cooked a meal. Turned in fairly early.
Sunday we spent all day at the beach on the kayak and floats or the pool. We then came back and grilled out steaks for the whole family. Afterwards we all headed over to the beach for a beautiful sunset.
Monday we spent all day at the pool and just hung out. Weather was awesome – in the mid 90’s. For dinner we took the trolley over to The Sandbar Restaurant.
Tuesday was another great day to just be lazy by the pool or beach. We grilled out burgers and brats for dinner, and then took the trolley up to Joe’s Ice Cream for dessert. The kids and girls then headed to putt-putt while Jim and I came back for beers and stogies.
Wednesday was not a great weather day. The rain was pretty consistent, so we decided to head to the movies. Heather, Trevor, Tess and I watched the final Harry Potter movie, and everyone else watched Transformers III. After the movie, we went to Pelican Pete’s for dinner. Won’t make that mistake again. I ended up having to lay down because the food made me sick to my stomach.
Thursday morning, Heather and I went to look at the Honda dealer in Bradenton for a new Touring Odyssey. Same issue here as in Ohio, there is absolutely no inventory for this model of van. On the way back from the dealer, we found the best NY pizza off the island at Piacissimo (www.piacissimo.com). We spent all day at the beach.
However late in the afternoon, there was a massive lightning storm that came through the island. For dinner we headed to the City Pier Restaurant. Afterwards we fished a little, but it ended up getting too dark. We plan to go fishing early tomorrow morning. We went back to the house and Heather worked on her CE’s and I did some work.
We got up around 7a and headed to the Pier to go fishing. The kids all caught a bunch of fish, and Trevor ended up catching the most. We then hung out the rest of the day enjoying the great weather, and had dinner at the BeachHouse restraurant. We begin our journey back tomorrow, so we all got packed up and turned in early.
More tomorrow…
