Below was our route for today.
Saturday We actually ended up leaving the house at 1a. The plan was to get some sleep and leave around 3 or so, but after Trevor’s girlfriend’s play, we decided to get a few things together and head out. Read more
The drive was brutal, especially for me. I drove the first 6 hours until 7a, and Heather had to take over because my eyes wouldn’t stay open. She drove for the next 7 hours, and then I drove the last 3 or so. We arrived around 4:30 in the afternoon, and the Kaleta’s had just gotten there about 3 hours earlier.
We immediately jumped in the pool with our shorts on, didn’t take the time to change clothes. Then the adults headed over to Skinny’s burgers for dinner, and ordered Domino’s pizza for the kids. After dinner, we went to Publix to buy some groceries. Turned in at 8:30p.
Sunday
Woke up around 9a, man was I tired. Trevor had already ran 3.5 MILES with Debra, and they were already at the beach. The girls were still in bed! I headed over to the beach for a bit, and then came back and we all had breakfast. Tess’s face got really burnt because she wanted to try to snorkel, and we believe the mask washed off all her sunscreen.
After breakfast, we went to the shops and bought some shirts and souvenirs. Jumped on the trolley and headed up towards the City Pier for an early dinner. We were going to get ice cream, but Jim’s brother Shawn wanted us to come see his new house on the beach. We headed over there and he, Jen, Ben, and Eva all joined us for ice cream at DIPS.
We then went out and took some pics of the sunset on the beach, and walked the length of the beach back to our house. Jim and I were going to go over to one of Shawn’s party houses to smoke some stogies, but Jim forgot the address and Shawn didn’t answer his phone. Came back to house and turned in early because we are getting up to fish in the morning.
Monday
We got up at 6a. Yes, I got up to fish at 6a!. Jim, John, Trevor, Tess and I headed to the City Pier to fish. The kids ended up catching about 5 fish, and then Jim had to get on a call. He was actually closing a $3BB dollar deal with the Mars Company. Heather and Deborah ran up to the Pier and met us, and we headed out shortly thereafter.
We spent the rest of the day at the beach, and then ate at the Sandbar restaurant with Shawn and Jen. Afterwards, Jim and I went to the “party” house, and the girls followed later. We spent most of the evening there smoking stogies and drinking a few beers.
Tuesday
We got up later today, and then Heather and Deborah went and got us some donuts at Anna Maria Donuts. We went over to the beach again, but man was it windy. The waves were so big, there were several surfers out there with their boards. It was cool to watch.
The water was a bit colder, but still pretty warm. The kids had fun on the wakeboards. After the kids and I were worn out, we headed back to the pool since Heather & Deborah decided to walk a few miles down the beach.
We headed out around 430 or so and got on the trolley for Skinny’s. We then headed up towards Bridge street to go see some more shops and have more ice cream at Joe’s homemade ice cream. We took a few group pics on the beach, and then got back on the trolley and headed home. We had to pack because we leave for the Keys tomorrow..
After everything was packed up, Heather and I walked down the beach in the evening back to the party house for a bit of relaxing time away from the kids.
