Today we floated the YellowStone River. We haven’t been here since 2020 because last year the weather prevented the river from being fished. We met up with our normal guides Tyrell and Ryan in Columbus, MT and headed to the YellowStone. Read more
Wick and I were with Tyrell. Chris & Strasser were with Ryan, and Dean and Tim were with a new guide Hayden. Fishing was really bad all day on the river but the stories were classic. About an hour or so from the end of the float, Tim calls me and tells me that he didn’t take the key out of the truck. This meant that the truck we parked at the end of the float we don’t have a key to it. Word spread through the group and we all throught we were screwed because we did a 20 mile float today. Luckily we were able to find a guy in a camper at the dock and he agreed to drive Chris and a few of the guides back to our vehicles. We didn’t know if we would ever see Chris again, but an hour later Chris pulls up and we all load in to head back. On the way back, we decided to check out a new pizza place in Columbus – Starlite Pizza. We bought 4 pizzas before realizing they were enormous!. While we were waiting on the pizzas, Wick took Strasser over to the Atlas Bar since he had never been there. In short, they were able to piss off the locals by talking about how much they love the YellowStone series, which apparently no Montana people like. When they were leaving, Strasser didn’t think he could finish his shot of bourbon, so the bartender asked him “would you like a togo cup?”. Too funny.
