I had planned a short trip to see my brother and mother who recently moved to South Carolina. A few days prior to leaving, my mother was admitted to the local hospital with Pneumonia. Due to Covid-19, I was unable to visit with her during my trip so I showed my brother around the island while I was there. Read more
Tuesday (2/9) I left CVG in the early afternoon. CVG was a very strange atmosphere due to Covid-19. I only saw about 20 travelers in the whole airport. Then in my layover in Charlotte, it was packed with people everywhere. Social distancing was certainly not a priority there. I arrived into the Hilton Head airport around 8p and my brother, Todd picked me up and we headed for a bite. My choice was Giuseppes in Shelter Cove. It is a great HHI spot as long as you can look past all the Steelers garb.. After dinner, I went back to the independent living community where my mom and Todd are staying and Todd and I watched classic 80’s movies most of the night. Thursday (2/11) We got up and had a quick bite and then headed to Sea Pines. Our 1st stop was Harbour Town as my brother had never been there before. I had originally planned to rent a boat this day and we would spend the day on the water, but the weather didn’t cooperate. We walked around the marina and visited the shops for most of the day. After leaving Harbour Town, we checked out the shops at Sea Pines, and then went to the Salty Dog Cafe in the South Beach Marina Village. We got back to the house and together made my mother’s famous weiner casserole. It actually didn’t taste too bad even though we doubled some of the ingredients… Friday & Saturday (2/12-2/13) I had some work I had to get done, so the last day or so was pretty low key. I just enjoyed spending a few days with just my brother and I. We don’t get as much time to do that anymore.
